St. Mary’s General Hospital is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Our Infection Prevention and Control Department is dedicated to minimizing the spread of antibiotic resistant organisms (AROs). The prevalence of antibiotic resistant organisms (AROs) continues to increase in Ontario hospitals, making infection control practices more critical than ever before.
To combat this trend St. Mary’s General Hospital has developed a number of initiatives aimed at controlling and preventing the spread of AROs in hospital, including improved patient screening and protocols, revised and enhanced housekeeping practices, and increased staff and physician education.
One of the most effective infection control practices is the simplest of all: practicing good hand hygiene.
